Sustainable Frome has been co-hosting a range of ‘Rise Up’ events to outline the need for urgent action on climate change.
The next step is an evening of free Non-Violent Direct Action training on Wednesday 17th October at Frome Town Hall, 7pm.
The training is open to anyone and comes as a follow up to Roger Hallam’s recent ‘Extinction Rebellion’ talk in Frome.
Roger said, “Life as we know it is falling apart. Extreme weather events and mass species extinction cover the globe. It’s time to rebel. Join the Extinction Rebellion for our introduction to non-violent direct action. Affinity groups are forming around the country to take part in a series of escalating disruptions during November.”
The training will cover areas such as how to chat to police officers and what are the best techniques for blockading. There will be a briefing about Extinction Rebellion, the theory and practice of nonviolent action and how people in Frome can get involved.
