Frome residents are being invited to re-discover how to move with ease, reduce pain and calm their nervous system at free taster workshops in February using the gentle, playful movement lessons of the Feldenkrais Method®.
The Feldenkrais Method® is a way of somatic learning that can help us make lasting improvements to how we move through the world. A combination of mindful attention and gentle movement harnesses our brain’s plasticity to stimulate better posture, coordination, breathing and flexibility and teaches people to move more comfortably and naturally.
The first opportunity to sample this approach is a 15-minute Feldenkrais lesson which will be broadcast on Frome FM on Tuesday 4th February, from 12-1pm, so that listeners will be able to participate in this cutting-edge method in the comfort of their own home. The station is on 96.6 FM.
Local practitioners, Jackie Adkins and Ed Bartram, who have joined together to form Feldenkrais Frome, will then offer a free half day of events at Frome Library on Saturday 8th February from 10.00am to 1pm. Taster classes will take place at 10.30am and 12.30pm, plus individual hands-on sessions – booking is advisable for any of these. Please email info@movetolive.co.uk or ed@felde nkraissomerset.com to book. They will also try to accommodate people who come on the day without booking – so do go along and have a chat. Ed and Jackie will also be launching their series of spring workshops which cover themes ranging from ‘effortless running’ to ‘releasing stress’.
