Following on from last year’s stunning lantern parade, Home in Frome will be hosting free lantern workshops for the stunning ‘Light The Night’ procession for 2018.
The group has been successful in receiving funding from Frome Town Council’s People’s Budget and Awards for All to run the workshops.
They will be held in schools and community venues by artists Aliss Vaas and Mel Day, to create a beautiful collection of LED-lit lanterns. The grand procession will be led through town by Jamma de Samba on November 30th, when the Christmas lights will be switched on.
Organisers say, “The workshops will provide a chance for people to have fun with family and friends, new and old. People who might not have tried such activities before will be especially welcome.
“At each session, people will be learning how to make three-dimensional forms in willow, tissue paper and glue; working together to explore ideas and create spectacular lanterns.
“The workshops will take place in the friendly atmosphere of The Welsh Mill Hub and other local venues, led by Mel and Aliss together with a group of volunteers from Home in Frome on hand to give support.
“If you would like to be involved or volunteer with Light The Night, please let us know via our website: http://www.fromelanterns .co.uk or just come along and participate in one of our free lantern making workshops!”
