FROME Friends of Dorothy House, a local fund raising group which was formed in 2009, has to date raised over £40,000, which is fitting as the hospice is celebrating its 40th birthday this year.
Terry Aldous of the Frome Friends group said, “During 2015 we have held various events including a barn dance, ‘Music and Merriment in a Marquee,’ bingo night, raffle for a Mulberry handbag at the annual Midnight Walk, coffee morning and various bucket collections which totalled a magnificent £10,705 which was our best year yet.
“We are already planning events for 2016 which will kick off with ‘All Things Animal’ to be held at Rymill Barn, Longbridge Deverill on Saturday 19th March. There will be 40 different animal themed exhibits and activities.
“We are a friendly group who meet about once a month. New members are always welcome. Even if you don’t want to join the committee, we are always grateful for any help anyone can give at events, either in person or perhaps supplying prizes, cakes etc.”
