A NEW one-day festival will start in Frome this year to raise money for charity in memory of a popular local man.
‘Langefest’ will take place at Frome Rugby Club on 2nd July in memory of Stuart Lange. The mini festival will be held the day after the anniversary of Stuart’s death, after he was killed in a motorcycle accident last summer.
There will be a motorcycle rideout, stalls, children’s activities, live music and a hog roast and barbecue. The day will last from 10.30am to 5pm.
Simon Boon, a friend of Stuart’s, is part of the team organising Langefest.
He said, “Stuart was a family man with two children and was an avid biker. For his funeral a parade of more than 140 bikes followed his hearse, which shows how well-known and liked he was.
“He did a lot for people and raised a lot of money for charity by doing motorcycle rides and a skydive. We wanted to run this event in his name so his legacy of helping people will continue.”
Stuart part-owned TL Vehicle Servicing in Frome with his brothers and lived in Dilton Marsh.
Money raised from the day will be donated to the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and the April Jones Trust, a charity Stuart had supported in the past.
Langefest is being organised by a team of Stuart’s close friends; Simon and Lynette Boon, Gem Thorne Curtis, Ollie Stevenson, Shelly Ford, Lee and Nicky Harding, Abby Fear, Lisa Broad, Kev Dawson, Tim Skuse, Philip Norris and Dean Veater.
Simon added, “We’d love for more people to get involved. We are being supported by a number of local businesses and sponsored by Grip-It Fixings and the Frome Rugby Club, but we’re looking for anyone who is able to help. People who would like to run a stall or provide entertainment are welcome too.”
