FROME’S branch of the British Heart Foundation was recently crowned the best in the region, and awarded one of its members for her long service.
The fundraising group was awarded the ‘Best Branch in the South of England’ for 2015/16.
Branch chairman John Osbourne said, “At the same meeting, Mrs Ann McKenna was awarded a 25-year long service medal. The award was presented by Alice Louw, the fundraising manager for Bristol and Somerset.
“The Frome committee meets regularly and over recent years has raised around £10,000 per year for the British Heart Foundation through a range of charity events including coffee mornings, fashion shows, in memoriam, as a link charity to Frome’s Rotary Club, and as the chosen charity for Beckington Music Hall 2016.”
