Hi everyone and welcome to my latest column.
I am sure most of you already know that the government’s plans to close rail ticket offices in England has been scrapped. This is such good news for all Frome rail passengers and of course ticket office staff, none more so than the amazing Anna at Frome Station. A huge thank you must go to Sue Bucklow for all her efforts in raising passenger and public awareness of the issue. Well done, Sue!
Alongside the spruce up I’ve been giving our bus shelters, I’ve spent some time doing a litter pick outside the train station and along Station Approach. If there are any areas local to you that you would like to treat to a litter pick, please contact the town hall on: 01373 465757 and we can lend you the relevant equipment needed.
We were invited to the Gateway Club presentation evening at Trinity Church Hall by the wonderful Ann Taylor. It was such a fun and uplifting evening. Thank you, Ann, your team, and all the volunteers involved.
Saturday 28th October was a busy day. Firstly, supporting Martin Scott with his new Cheese venture. It is good to see a new independent business starting up in Frome. Wishing Martin every success. We then delivered a birthday card and cake to “M” (cllr Sara Butler). That morning we had also joined the Purple Elephant play morning at the library. It was so good to see so many families having great fun.
Whilst in the library, I had the opportunity to visit the Discover Frome desk and the Wild Bunch information display. This all goes to show how much is going on in Frome and all run by volunteers! Well done to all concerned.
The highlight of the day was to present Chris Riddick with a Mayor’s Commendation for all the amazing work he does. But particularly for helping a person in need and caring for them until assistance arrived. Chris demonstrated such an act of kindness and professionalism. Thank you again Chris.
On Friday 10th November, I will be at Frome Train Station at 8.45am to present a wreath from Frome for the Poppy Train travelling to London for Remembrance Sunday.
The Remembrance Day Parade will take place on Sunday 12th November, organised by The British Legion and Frome Town Council. I will be laying a wreath at the Memorial alongside two town councillors from our German Twin Town, Murrhardt. We will remember all those lost in the First World War and other wars and conflicts.

Well done to all those that made the ‘Close Encounters of a Frome Kind’ lightworks event so fantastic. An amazing amount of funds were raised for local charities.
