Frome 3rd XI suffered their 2nd defeat in a row as they played host to table-toppers Butleigh 2nd XI at Mells.
With the visitors winning the toss and electing to bat, Frome made an early breakthrough, with Cox picking up the first wicket in his 3rd over. This was to be the only success for a while as Butleigh made good use of a good pitch, piling on the runs before the drinks break. The second half saw Frome rally well in the heat, picking up 6 more wickets to leave Butleigh on 219-7 after their allotted overs.
Following tea, Frome got off to a poor start with Larder being run out in the 2nd over. Frome never really got going, losing wickets on a regular basis with only Penny and Baldwin adding any resistance, to leave Frome on 131-9 after 40 overs.
Next week the 3s travel to Harptree looking to get back to winning ways.
