A Frome-based photographer has been shortlisted for a photography award celebrating new and emerging talent.
Chloe Raeburn has been shortlisted for The Penn Berkeley Prize for her image, ‘Mother’s Love,’ which captures an intimate moment between a Frome mother and her young daughter.
Chloe, who runs @Chloesforevercaptures, turned to photography as a way of coping with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). She said, “Photography has become my language for understanding and expressing the world around me.
“What started as a personal coping mechanism has grown into something I never expected – the ability to tell stories that resonate with others.”
The Penn Berkeley Prize aims to identify and support emerging photographers, providing them with a platform to showcase their work and develop their careers.
Being shortlisted places Chloe among the most promising new talents in contemporary photography.
‘Mother’s Love’ is currently on public display at The Bridgy Gallery in Bridgwater. The image is also available for viewing online, where members of the public can vote for their favourite image in the competition.
The public voting component of The Penn Berkeley Prize ensures that emerging photographers receive recognition not only from industry professionals but also from the communities their work touches. Voting remains open until 27th August.
The winner of The Penn Berkeley Prize will be announced on 30th August at Bridgy Gallery in Bridgwater. Public votes can be made via the website www.bridgygallery.co.uk/the-penn-berkeley-prize-photography-finalists
