MILK Street Brewery have won a bronze award in the ‘Stouts’ category at this year’s South West Champion Beer of Britain competition for their dark chocolate stout called Zig Zag.
The finals of this year’s regional Beer of Britain competition took place following a year of beer tastings, tasting panel nominations and CAMRA (campaign for real ale) members’ votes.
Successful beers were submitted from these into the category final and were judged by a panel made up of journalists, fellow brewers, and CAMRA members.
Following a successful Twitter campaign, Milk Street Brewery developed Zig Zag, the dark chocolaty stout into their first vegan beer. Following this redesign, Zig Zag has become very popular with customers of The Griffin (home of Milk Street Brewery) and also the freetrade.
The bronze award follows on from another bronze awarded at the Peterborough Beer Festival in 2012.
