Frome bookshop Winstone’s Hunting Raven Books has been named a finalist in the Best Independent Bookshop regional category of The British Book Awards 2025.
Frome’s much-loved bookshop – which celebrated its 40th anniversary last year – has been shortlisted in the South West region alongside other popular contenders, including fellow indie Mr B’s Emporium of Reading Delights in Bath.
The team won the regional award in 2020, just two days before the country went into lockdown, and this is the first time they have entered the competition since.
Hunting Raven manager Tina Gaisford-Waller said, “We are really thrilled to once again be named as a finalist, especially in such an enormously strong field. The South West has an abundance of brilliant bookshops, each doing their own particular thing. We utterly love what we do, and it feels wonderful to be recognised again this year.
“The last time we entered the awards was in 2020, when we won South West Bookshop of the Year. But we have achieved an enormous amount since then, so it’s lovely to be able to look back and reflect on a great 2024. We have our fingers crossed for the final!”
The results of the regional awards will be announced on Tuesday 11th March, and the winner will go on to compete for the title of British Independent Bookshop of the Year.
