local woman, Jean Prior, who has been a member of the Frome Carers Group for many years, has been recognised for her continued fundraising to enable the group to continue its work.
For the last two years Jean has been hard at work baking pies and crumbles and making marmalade to sell at the Frome Carers’ Group’s monthly meetings. The carers group say, “She generously gives all the money she makes from the sales to the group funds and has over that time contributed well over £200! She has also knitted teddies and dolls to add to these funds.
“The group feels this is a remarkable achievement and are very grateful for her continued generosity and support.”
Jean is among 26 members who regularly attend the group which meets on the first Wednesday of the month at the Frome Cricket Club on Rodden Road from 10.30am -12.30pm.
Members meet other carers in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere for a coffee and cake and enjoy some much-needed time for themselves.
A full programme of talks on subjects of interest and items offering helpful advice are arranged throughout the year, as well as a variety of outings, which most recently included a much-enjoyed boat trip with a cream tea on the canal at Bradford-on-Avon.
New carers are very welcome to come along to the meetings and join this happy, friendly group. For more details contact Joan Paynter 01373 302128 or Sheila Nicholson 01373 461940.
