LOCALS enjoyed all the fun of the fair at Frome Carnival’s fun day in Victoria Park, on 11th June.

The Family Fun Day & Dog Show raised an estimated £1,300 for this year’s carnival procession, which will take place on Saturday 24th September. The carnival committee say that they are thrilled with the event’s success.
“It went really well!” said Mandy Morgan on behalf of the carnival committee. “It was very well attended – everybody had a good day. We think we have made at least £1,300, but this could go up depending on how much the Lions Club raised with their train rides. We are more than happy with this amount considering that everyone is struggling with the rise in the cost of living. The money will go a long way to supporting this year’s carnival in September.
“We had lots of feedback from people who said that the event was really well organised – so I’m chuffed about that!
“Thank you to everyone that came, and a huge thank you to everyone that volunteered or contributed in some way to the day. And of course the hardworking carnival committee – thank you!”
At the fun day, revellers enjoyed a dog show, the Carnival Baby competition, music, face painting, performances from local dance groups, skittles, a fun fair, train rides, and appearances from Star Wars characters.
The carnival committee also launched its competition to design the front cover of their programme, and began the hunt for the next batch of carnival royalty members.
Mandy said, “The carnival programme colouring competition is for 8 to 17 year olds. For 1st place, plus 4 runners up – not only will their fabulous designs be admired on the front and back cover of our programme, but they will also be invited to become our Carnival Prince or Princesses in our carnival processions.
“We are also asking children to nominate their grandparents to be this year’s Carnival Granny or Grampy.”
Entry forms and further information on both competitions can be found on the carnival’s website: www.FromeCarnival.org.uk
