Frome’s Carnival Queen for 2015, Vicky Hart, has been crowned following the selection competition which took place last week.
Vicky will be joined in her duties by her four attendants Sian Armstrong, Jess Davies, Grace Takle and Shona Stendall. She takes over the role from last year’s queen, Charlotte Mill. This year’s Children’s Queen is Jessica Cook, who will be supported by attendants Rhian Watkins, Destiny Smith, Millie Sharp, and Maisie Sharland. Miss Teenager was won by Yasmin Gattiker, who will be attended by Leanna Evans and Louise Martin, while the Carnival Gran competition had two winners – Caroline Clements and Jodie Breese.
Carnival chair June Barnes said, “The competitions went very well and we had a lot of successful entries.
“There weren’t as many people as in previous years, but the quality of entries was high and there are some lovely people taking part.
“Now it’s time to really get into fundraising for the carnival, that’s what this is all for. The day costs a lot of money to put on and the royalty will have to work hard to make sure it goes well.”
Frome’s popular annual carnival has been held since 1929 and will take place this year on Saturday 19th September. Last year’s event saw 20,000 people take to the streets of Frome and help to raise nearly £5,000 for local causes.
