Frome’s Blue Cross charity shop has reopened following a refit and has welcomed back visitors, including Frome’s feline celebrity, Frodo.
The shop, located in the Westway Centre was temporarily closed from 16th July to allow for improvements to be made to the space.
One familiar face who’s been eagerly awaiting the reopening is Frodo the cat, who is known to visit daily and take long naps on the office chair. During the closure, it was reported that Frodo attempted to continue his routine, arriving outside the shop each morning at 8am and waiting patiently by the door.
Blue Cross, a national pet charity, supports sick, injured and abandoned pets through its network of rehoming centres and animal hospitals across the country. The Frome charity shop plays a vital role in this mission, raising essential funds through the sale of second-hand and preloved items. The shop sells women’s, men’s and children’s clothing, accessories, homeware, toys, books, bric-a-brac and much more.
David Palmer, Head of Retail Operations at Blue Cross, said, “We’re excited to reopen our newly refitted shop in the heart of Frome. It’s a joy to see our team reconnect with the community, and we’re especially happy to see Frodo reclaim his favourite spot. Our Frome shop is also seeking donations of good quality items to sell, which can be dropped off at the store during opening hours. Every sale helps us continue providing vital support to pets in need through our rehoming, veterinary, and support services.”
With the increasing demand for Blue Cross pet welfare services, the charity needs the support of animal lovers to continue its work helping pets and their people, in any way they can. Whether that’s by donating to keep rehoming and veterinary services going through these tough times, fundraising for Blue Cross, providing foster care for pets while loving new homes are found, volunteering at pet food banks, or signing up to support Blue Cross campaigns for better pet welfare.
The shop is open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm, and is located at Unit 18, The Westway Shopping Centre. For more information, visit www.bluecross.org.uk or call 0300 777 1875.
