Volunteers from a Frome group are the stars of a new series of adverts for the Co-op.
Active and In Touch Frome, which is managed in partnership with CSW You Can Do, appears in a series of promos to encourage shoppers to select their favourite charity being supported by the Co-op’s local community fund.
The cause, which is currently being supported by the fund, helps and befriends people who have become isolated or out of touch with the community around them, providing ongoing support to anyone who feels isolated or lonely in Frome and the surrounding villages.
Under the Co-op’s local community fund, members receive a five per cent reward for any purchases they make of own-brand products and services, with a further one per cent directly benefiting local causes, such as Active and In Touch Frome. By going online members can decide which cause they would like to support in their area.
Lucia Chadwick, project co-ordinator at Active and In Touch Frome said, “Active and in Touch Frome is absolutely thrilled to be involved in the Co-op advertising campaign. We hope that the campaign will not only shine a light on the wonderful work that our dedicated band of volunteers do in our community, but also highlight the issue of loneliness that so many people can silently suffer.
“After all, loneliness and isolation can affect any one of us at any point in our lives. A change in circumstance or life event can have a devastating effect on our ability to get on and just be ourselves.
“The Co-op membership scheme has already proved to be a great source of fundraising for our charity. It is so easy to sign up at Co-op stores and go online to start giving to Active and in Touch. The funds that we raise will help us to reach out to more vulnerable, elderly and isolated people who need our support and help us to end loneliness in our community.”
Since it launched in September 2016, the Co-op’s local community fund has supported over 1,000 causes in the South West. You can see the adverts at: https://coop.uk/ active, and more information is available here: www.coop.co.uk/ membership
