The ‘Meet the Producer’ event will take place on Saturday 14th March during the farmers market at the Cheese & Grain in the fully accessible Community Education Room upstairs.
The organisers said, “We’re giving our farmers and food producers an opportunity to share with you their experiences, ethos and enthusiasm for producing your food!
“Plan your shopping trip around the talks you are interested in; we have put together a diverse selection of producers, but who all share a huge enthusiasm for producing food, and desire to tell their story and share their knowledge. An opportunity to find out all you ever wanted to know about local food production!
“The farmers market takes place from 9.00am-1.00pm in the main Cheese & Grain downstairs. Meanwhile upstairs in the Community Education Room we kick off with The Good Life Pork Company at 9.30am, Tom Trippick, an Emborough based dairy and pig farmer is passionate about rearing rare breed pigs, their quality of life and the quality of the meat he is producing.
“He is followed at 10.00am by Rode based Andy Fussel of Fussel’s Fine foods who has succeeded in putting his award winning Rape Seed oil products on menu’s around the UK. A great story teller with many a tale to tell – including his visit into the Dragons Den!
“At 11.00am we have Phil Rainbow of The Somerset Cheese Company. He has over 40 years in cheese making and his expertise is well renowned and respected, and he has won awards in both national and international shows. This offers a great opportunity to find out more about the art of cheese making from an expert.
“Finally at 11.30am if you are interested in bread then don’t miss Kilmersdon based Barry Fowler of The Hill Bakery who is a self-confessed sourdough enthusiast. Hear about his ‘life in dough’ making and baking and travelling the world visiting bakeries!
