The Frome Agricultural & Cheese Show is back this Saturday, celebrating the very best in food, farming and, of course, cheese.
Held at the West Woodlands Showground on Saturday 14th September, there will be twelve competition sections, with everything from cattle, sheep, dairy goats, show jumping, eggs, fodder and grain, horticulture, homecraft and handicraft, vintage machinery and the Global Cheese Awards.
The show also welcomes the Mangled-Wurzels, who will perform some West-Country crowd favourites.
“Joining us in the Main Ring will be Jonathan Marshall with his Free Spirits live experience alongside his stunning horses and falcons, which all work together in a carefully choreographed performance,” said Charlotte O’Neill, showground development and competitions manager.
“It includes dramatic music, which climaxes with the falcon flying right through the horses’ legs at over 100mph.
“The Rockets will be taking to the Village Green with their airborne stunts and formation riding performances. Not forgetting, the racing terriers who will be returning with their fast, furious and sometimes hilarious display! Your terrier (or pet dog) can have a go too!
“In the Cheese Pavilion, remember to visit the Global Cheese Awards, where cheese has been entered from all over the world to battle it out to become the Global Champion. A great place to discover the history of cheesemaking and taste some of the best cheeses produced from around the globe.
“New for 2024, is Fun Kitchen, who will be bringing their cookery-class workshops for children to learn new skills, explore tastes and cook up healthy, tasty treats.
“The Mangled-Wurzels will also be taking to the music stage, so get your combine harvesters and dung spreaders at the ready.
“Returning to this year’s show is the Little Show Goers Play Zone, which is a completely free area full of different activities, crafts and games for the children to enjoy. Everything from sand art and pottery painting to crazy golf and circus skills.
“We would like to thank all of our sponsors, members and stewards for their continued support of the show, without whom the show would not be possible.”
Gates open to the public from 9am to 5pm.
