EXCITEMENT is running high in the build-up to this year’s Frome Agricultural and Cheese Show, which will be held this Saturday, 12th September.
The West Woodlands Showground sees thousands of people every year come and enjoy a fantastic day out. This year will be the 138th in the show’s long history and promises new and exciting entertainment for the whole family.
Chef demonstrations, stunts, robots and showjumping will provide a full day’s entertainment, alongside the ever popular produce stalls and competitions.
The show will run from 8.30am – 6pm and tickets cost £14 per adult (£11 advance), £12 for senior citizen (£9 adv.) or £5 per child aged five-16 years (£3 adv.). Children under five go free, and a family ticket for two adults and three children can be bought for £32 (£24 adv.)

Parking changes
The show has added a new car park to cope with growing demand – 21,000 people attended last year and more are expected this weekend.
There will be two new fields in use for car parking on Bunn’s Lane. An extra entrance off the main Maiden Bradley road is also being introduced to improve the flow of traffic.
For those choosing not to drive, free buses will run all day between the show and the old Showfield on Rodden Road, Market Place, Sainsbury’s, Frome Station and Badcox.
What’s On
There are many competitions taking place in the Livestock Village and numerous equine classes in the Main Ring. Competition classes such as Showjumping, Scurry and Shetland racing prove to be very popular with spectators, watch as the crowds gather!
With the Local and Fine Food Halls already completely sold out, the show promotes and supports local British produce and this year is sure to be packed with delights from homemade fudge and sweets to chutney and pies. Along with this, the show’s Countryside area offers a range of creative rural crafts demonstrating many forgotten skills.
Celebrity chef Paul Rankin will be describing recipes which helped make his name along with many other chefs in Belfast and Northern Ireland who kickstarted their careers in Rankin’s Michelin star kitchen, Roscoff.
The chef appearances at Frome Show have always been a ‘must-see’ attraction in the Cheese Pavilion’s Rangemaster Kitchen so be sure to visit.
Increased appearances from Titan the Robot at this year’s show will be like nothing ever seen before. The ‘biggest entertainer on the planet’ will be meeting and greeting visitors around the showground! Other highlights include daredevil stunts such as Joseph Peace Fire Stunt Show and Bolddog Lings Motocross Display Team.

Advance tickets can also now be bought from Tourist Information Centres in Frome, along with some local stores, Mole Valley Farmers, White Row Country Foods at Beckington, Mells Village Shop and Acres Supply at Corsley, from the Cheese and Grain and from the show’s offices at Fromefield.
