A VINTAGE vehicle enthusiast from Frome is hoping to organise meets for fellow fanatics who fancy a chat and coffee.
Jon Candy received 60 comments to a post on Facebook when he suggested the idea.
“Just wondering if any Frome or local people fancy starting a vintage and classic motorbike club. Maybe even classic cars?” he wrote. “I have a few and sometimes travel to a few other town/cities meets but would be quite nice to have something a bit local.”
.Jon told Frome Times, “I often see people out riding and there aren’t really any local groups that meet.
“It’s just informal, if any riders are out and want to stop for a coffee and a chat.
“I think people would like to do that, especially on a nice, sunny day.”
Jon, who buys and sells antique goods, owns vintage vehicles including Norton International (1952) and Sunbeam 57 (1949) motorbikes, a Vauxhall Victor F Type Estate car from 1960, and steam engines.
He used to do drag racing and has enjoyed tinkering with classic models throughout his life.
“We can socially distance and meet where parking is free,”he added.
