Frome College has achieved a 100% score on the prestigious Gatsby Benchmarks, which recognise excellence in careers education and guidance.
Following the most recent audit, the college has been ranked first out of 54 educational institutions across the Somerset Careers Hub, reflecting its commitment to providing students with comprehensive career development opportunities and preparing them for successful transitions into further education, training or employment.
“Our careers programme is designed to give every student the tools they need to make informed decisions about their future,” said Charlotte Gale, careers lead at Frome College. “Achieving 100% on the Gatsby Benchmarks validates our approach and encourages us to continue enhancing our careers curriculum.”
Frome College’s robust careers programme includes annual career talks featuring industry professionals; structured work experience placements; mock interview sessions to build confidence and professional skills; and personalised one-to-one guidance counselling.
These initiatives collectively ensure students receive targeted support throughout their educational journey at Frome College.
Principal of Frome College, Emma Reynolds, said, “College leadership emphasises that this recognition would not have been possible without strong community partnerships. Local businesses, organisations and individuals have generously contributed their time and expertise to support the college’s careers initiatives.
“We extend our sincere gratitude to our community partners who have been instrumental in achieving this milestone. Their dedication to helping our students work towards their career ambitions has made an immeasurable impact.”
The Gatsby Benchmarks are a framework of eight guidelines defining excellence in careers education, established as part of the UK government’s careers strategy.
