A student from Frome College who has been raising £6,000 to go to Germany for an eye therapy that is not available in the UK, has reached his target and raised £6,260.
Sam Horton who is a year 11 student at Frome College has a degenerative disease in both his eyes, giving him limited eye sight; Sam was fundraising to be able to go to Berlin in February to have an electrical eye stimulation therapy that is not currently available in the UK.
It was reported in the Frome Times in December that Sam needed to raise the funds to be able to fund the second round of therapy.
Sam’s mother Lisa Horton said, “What can we say we are so overwhelmed with the kindness and generosity of the public most of whom we don’t know. This money donated means so much to us as it has now paid for the complete treatment. Samuel was so shocked how quickly the money went up and is really pleased we have reached our target!”
