Frome Symphony’s next concert takes place on Sunday 13th May in the Cheese & Grain at 7.30pm.
This is the third in a year-long series of concerts featuring the finest young classical soloists, in which the orchestra will be joined by Julius Scholtz for a performance of the Trumpet Concerto by Arutiunian.
Julius, 20, was born in Berlin, studied at Wells Cathedral School, and is now developing an international solo career.
The concert opens with Rimsky Korsakov’s Capriccio Espanol, which is based on lively Spanish folk melodies. After the interval, the orchestra performs Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8, a cheery and lyrical work which draws its inspiration from the Bohemian folk music which the composer loved. Frome Symphony is conducted by Mark Gateshill.
