STUDENTS in the Frome College Greenpower Team are excited to announce that they have recently begun building their electric car called Carbon Footsprint.
The school report, “They intend to race in the car later this year in hope to qualify to the finals. This has not been possible without the support from the local quarry company Wainwright & Co who have invested £5,000 in the car.
“For the car’s bodywork, the team are planning on using polycarbonate, which is a strong, tough, lightweight plastic polymer making it perfect as the team’s first choice of material. Polycarbonate also has two hundred times better impact resistance than glass, making it ideal for racing. The students hope that external support for the team will help future year groups use premium materials such as carbon fibre.”
If you would like to support Frome College’s Greenpower Team or have any spare polycarbonate that they could donate for the bodywork, please email DWebber@fromecollege.org
