Frome Community College joined with Somerset Road Safety to promote safer riding by scooter and motorcycle riders at the college. PC Steve Greenhalgh and Mike Smalley of Somerset Road Safety, along with motorcycle mechanic Rob Jones, gave the motorbikes a mechanical safety check and offered general safe riding tips to the owners. Steve and Mike were pleased with the standard of the machines, with Rob quickly resolving minor infringements such as a missing L-plate and reflector. The college operates a permit system that helps riders ensure they have the correct documents for themselves and their machines. Dr David Smith, Year 11 ATL, said, “The permit system is to encourage riders to check they are legal before they take to the road but only the riders themselves can ensure their machine and clothing are appropriate.
