FROME Community Education has just launched its range of Spring Term courses live online with a new brochure being distributed across Frome in the next few days.
There are nine brand new courses on offer as well as established courses spanning arts and crafts, pottery, languages, health and wellbeing, and words and culture.
Programme manager Pia McGee says, “If you are searching for inspiration for Christmas gifts, it is well worth having a look at our new brochure. There are a wide range of courses to suit all interests and budgets with classes ranging from 1-day workshops from as little as £18, as well as short 5-week courses from £37.50, and longer 10-week courses from £75.”
New art and craft classes include ‘Weaving Plant Supports and Bird Feeders,’ the opportunity to ‘Wake Up Your New Year’s Creativity with Collage,’ as well as ‘Diving Into Watercolours’ with the option to try both ‘Mastering Shapes’ and ‘Atmospheric Landscapes’. Additional new courses include Narrative Collage, Macrame, and a new shorter 5-week Mixed Media Art Class.
Art Historian Paul Chapman makes a welcome return to the programme with a one-day masterclass on ‘Marsden Hartley and Robert Indiana – A Conversation Through Time’. This course aims to compare the lives and works of two great American painters.
New environmental tutor, Matthew Bennett asks us to consider ‘Climate Change? How Does It Concern Me and Mine?’ with a course that aims to both inform and encourage students to collectively engage with the topic – choosing what areas to focus on and identify what actions we can take in our own lives to tackle this issue.
Finally, there is also a new French Conversation class for those with some experience of the language who want to advance their skills and hone their conversational ability!
