A local doctors’ surgery has welcomed a new GP to their team. Dr Lucia Manfredi became the latest recruit to join the team at the Frome Medical Practice at the end of September.
Dr Manfredi carried out her medical training at Liverpool University, qualifying as a doctor in 2010 before commencing her general practice training in London, becoming a fully qualified GP in 2015.
“I am absolutely delighted to be here at the Frome Medical Practice,’ says Dr Manfredi. “The facilities here at the practice really are fantastic, both for the clinician and of course the patient.”
However, what really attracted Dr Manfredi to Somerset was not only the state-of-the-art building itself, but the philosophy and thinking behind the Frome practice.
“When I was working as a newly-qualified GP in north London, I was very much involved in helping to develop an integrated ‘joined up’ approach to improve the care of the patient in the community,” adds Dr Manfredi. “When I then heard about the Frome model of enhanced primary care, which aims to combat isolation and has led to a dramatic fall in hospital admissions, the practice here seemed a perfect fit to my own view on how primary care can work best for the patient in the future.”
Whilst Dr Manfredi meets her new patients and explores her fresh surroundings here in Somerset, her new colleagues at the practice are equally pleased to have her on board. Senior partner at the practice, Dr Helen Kingston said, “It is great to have Dr Manfredi join us in Frome as part of our GP team. I think that our patients already understand the real challenges that the NHS and general practice faces and they can be reassured that we are continuing with our promise to both attract and retain the best clinical talent, ensuring that we are able to deliver a medical service that really is second to none.”
