Oakfield Academy welcomed Helen Johnstone, co-ordinator for Frome Community Fridge to their assemblies this week.
The academy said, “Helen explained to the pupils the purpose of the Community Fridge which is in the town centre. The project aims to reduce food waste in the town, food is collected by volunteers from shops and restaurants and is available for everyone to use. The organisation’s only request is that people only take what they intend to use, items shouldn’t be taken to mess about with.
“Other items in the fridge such as cleaning equipment and steps, are there to be used by the volunteers to look after the fridge, and shouldn’t be taken.
“Oakfield Academy would like to thank Helen for a very informative talk, which all of the students found very interesting.”
