STEINER Academy Frome was home to festive fun and advent wonder during their Advent Fair held on Saturday 18th November.
The school was transformed with a mass of delicately cut stars, rich velvet drapes, garlands of greenery and sparkling fairy lights. King Winter’s grotto, complete with ivy-clad throne, miraculously appeared for storytelling and amazingly King Winter himself made an appearance.
The fair offered a wealth of opportunities for children and adults to make hand-dipped candles, Christmas wreaths and bath bombs and to dig for treasure. Festive live music entertained the crowds including the school Christmas choir and parent musicians.
As if by magic and new for this year, the children were surprised and enchanted by an immersive fairytale experience walking through a delightful scene from The Elves and the Shoemaker. Afterwards they were even able to craft their very own shoe.
Local artisan sellers (including parents) offered a range of original handmade gifts, whilst the children-only stall sold hand-made toys and craft at pocket-money prices, with no adults allowed! The pop-up café offered delicious food cooked and served by parents.
The incredible top prizes in this year’s raffle included a beautiful 18 carat gold Paloma friendship bracelet made by Shakti Underwood; tickets to both Shindig and the Green Gathering; and a meal for two at the High Pavement. Other fabulous prizes included artisan crafted gifts, massages and treatments and organic body products.
Siera Scilitoe-Morris, Advent Fair coordinator, said, “We wanted to say a big thank you to everyone from the school community, local artisans, performers, musicians and all the local people who supported us with their time and effort, and we also wanted to thank local businesses for donating such wonderful raffle prizes. What a wonderful success”
