The Pop-Up Studio at the Black Swan in Frome is hosting an exhibition of paintings by two local artists.
The exhibition entitled ‘The English Landscape as Place and Memory’ is open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10.00am and 4.00pm between 3rd and 14th June. Please note: the Pop-Up Studio is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
The work of the two artists explores the landscape in their individual style and medium and the finished works demonstrate a variety of studio practices
Pauline Bullard strives to capture the inner essence of the landscape rather than a pictorial description to evoke its mystery; a place of memories; ancient sites; the land and its edges. The ideas are rendered in mixed media, oil, and watercolour.
Eve Knowles explores personal links to the land, sea and animals in a naturalistic vision. Eve’s expressive feelings for the beauty of the countryside and the sea, the delicate changing moods of light are captured in pastel.
The exhibition demonstrates a variety of studio practices which will enable the viewer to examine the process of making. Both artists will be delighted to discuss their work so simply pop into the Pop-Up Studio anytime between 10.00am and 4.00pm from the 3rd to 14th June.
Some works are framed whilst others are mounted and unframed. A selection of work, including Giclee editions, and cards will be available to purchase.
