Submissions are now open for event organisers, food traders, artists and gardeners for Frome’s annual community arts festival, which will take place from 4th to 13th July.
Food and beverage traders are invited to apply for a pitch at the popular Food Feast, which takes place in the Cheese and Grain car park on Saturday 5th July from 5pm.
“One of Frome’s favourite free events, this annual fixture is a celebration of amazing street food, live music and entertainment,” says the festival manager, Sarah Swales. “Thousands of attendees gather to enjoy mouth-watering dishes from around the world and dance the night away.”
Traders interested in participating should submit the online form on the Frome Festival website by Monday 10th February. After this deadline, the festival team will reach out to all applicants to confirm whether or not they have been offered a pitch. Selection will be based on creating a diverse and exciting array of offerings for the event.
For the majority of festival programming, independent event organisers can submit their application through the Frome Festival website between 31st January and 28th February. This includes a wide range of events such as music, plays, workshops, children’s events, food tastings, dance, comedy, talks, walks and more.
The festival team encourages all potential organisers to reach out via email before submitting an application to discuss their plans. They are open to all ideas, regardless of whether the organiser has prior event experience.
Sarah said, “While this year’s theme highlights Frome’s rich heritage in the textile industry, it’s not a requirement—organisers are welcome to explore other creative concepts as well.”
Artists and makers interested in exhibiting their work during the Frome Festival can apply to join the Frome Open Art Trail through its dedicated website. Exhibitors may choose to participate in a group setting or open their own studios and workspaces.
Last year, the Art Trail featured over 80 artists across 30 venues. As with event submissions, the application deadline is 28th February.
Many gardeners take pleasure in opening their outdoor spaces to the public for the Hidden Gardens event, which will take place between 11th and 13th July. A highlight of the Frome calendar for many, this event also raises much-needed funds to support the Frome Festival, as well as charities chosen by the gardeners.
Those interested in participating can email FromeHiddenGardens2022@outlook.com and find more information on the Frome Festival website.
“The festival is a true celebration of creativity and community, brought to life by the many imaginative Frome residents who work behind the scenes and perform on stage,” says Sarah. “If you’d like to get involved in organising an event, now is your chance to contact the festival team and be included in the brochure for July’s exciting 10-day celebration.”
