FROME Festival’s director, Martin Dimery, delighted a packed out Cooper Hall audience with his one-man show ‘Shakespeare Rattle and Roll’ on Sunday night 9th February.
This preview of his show, soon to play London’s West End, was a fundraiser for Frome Festival, and supporters filled the stunning Cooper Hall owned by festival patron Morag McLaren.
Shakespeare’s songs and verse were given an update in the unlikely hands of head of classics, Mr Dimery (formerly of ‘Peter, Paul and Mr Dimery’). Puck as an “elvish Elvis” set the scene for Dylan, Bowie, The Beatles and even George Formby style renditions with hilarious effect and was met with demands for two encores!
The festival office was thrilled to see a surge of new members to the Friends of Frome Festival scheme. Friends bring in much needed income to the festival which co-ordinates and promotes a wide-range of events including high quality music, comedy, workshops and the Food Feast.
This year the festival runs from 4th-13th July and promises to be an exciting two weeks, with a blend of top names in comedy, music and local talent.
