FROME FM is back in the studio and continuing to broadcast a wide range of programmes every month online and on 96.6FM.
“Frome FM never went away but we couldn’t use the Frome FM studio in the Town Hall during the covid lockdowns,” a spokesperson said. “Thanks to our technical wizards and the dedication of our volunteer programme makers, we were able to keep broadcasting new radio shows throughout all the lockdowns. However, unlike most other companies, we weren’t eligible for any Government financial support during the pandemic.
“We are eternally grateful to our members who over the last six months have raised all kinds of money to keep Frome FM afloat. Especial thanks go to Toby Prin and all his generous guests at 23 Bath Street, who held a Frome FM fund raiser night on 22nd July 2022, and raised a whopping £2,000 for Frome FM, a lifesaver!
“Frome FM are very grateful to have now received some grants from Somerset Community Foundation and Somerset County Council to help promote Frome FM, and provide some training to younger people on Community radio skills.
“The training project is for school-age students. This project has now been dubbed ‘F-Radio’ and James Brookes (from Young People Frome) is leading this project for Frome FM and is now actively seeking students to take part in this free course that continues until Christmas. If you would like to join the student team or know someone who would, please send a brief message to hello@Frome.fm and James will get back to you straight away.
“We are always looking for new members who want to produce or present their own radio shows on Frome FM; full training is available. We are also looking for people who live or work in Frome to join a Frome FM advisory board. And, of course, we always welcome new advertisers! We would encourage anyone who may be interested to visit http://frome.fm – click on Join us or Sponsors & ADS. We would welcome emails to hello@frome.fm if you are able to help or have questions about Frome FM.”
Rupert Kirkham Frome FM director said, “We would like to thank all those listeners to Frome FM, and very much appreciate the feedback we receive. We are humbled by the support we get from the local community.”
