Frome’s community radio station opened a brand-new studio recently, with the Mayor Cllr Andy Jones, officially cutting the ribbon.
Frome FM’s Studio 2 was opened in the presence of the station’s director, Tim Hardy, who is responsible for training.
The upgraded space is equipped with modern DJ and broadcasting equipment, designed to engage both young talent and seasoned voices in the community.
Cllr Andy Jones said, “This studio is more than just gear and microphones; it’s a space where people of all ages can get involved, share stories, play music and learn real broadcasting skills.”
Studio 2 represents FM Community Radio’s ongoing commitment to accessibility, youth engagement and lifelong learning. The station invites local residents to explore training sessions, live broadcasting opportunities and creative workshops hosted throughout the year.
Frome FM is also about to embark on refurbishing its original studio. Frome FM’s technical director, Andrew Bryant, said, “Most of our kit was bought second-hand before we gained our full licence 13 years ago. It has served us well, but we need to build in reliability now to prepare for the future.”
