A Frome based duo have successfully cultivated a line up of international high profile DJ’s for their brand new local mini dance music festival.
Friends Jack Clink and Ryan Allcott are both fathers, living and working in Frome. As patriotic festival goers, the pair share a passion for an eclectic taste in dance music genres, along with interest and experience in the logistics of dance music events large and small.
Possessing the perfect foundation to take matters into their own hands… this summer, they have founded their own event production partnership – Powwow Productions Ltd.
Powwow have hit the ground running with their first event, ‘Field Trip- The end of Summer Party’. A mini one-day / one-night camping festival, taking place on Saturday 12th September, 12.00pm @ Grange Farm, Bratton Rd, West Ashton, (BA14 6AX)
They have recently announced that they have secured headliners such as;
Phil Hartnoll – one half of Orbital, an eminent part of the early electro/acid house rave scene in south east London, having made a comeback and in recent years headlining at the Big Chill and Glastonbury Festival.
The Freestylers – Acclaimed Electro House/Breakbeat extraordinaire, having performed at Glastonbury Festival and internationally throughout the global arena.
DJ Marky – A Brazilian drum n bass DJ who distinguishes himself with the likes of Goldie and DJ HYPE, a key player for BBC Radio 1.
Bristol Boy Redlight (previously known as DJ Clipz) who started producing Drum and Bass but is now more appreciated for his contribution to Deep House, not to mention his collaboration with Chase ‘n’ Status, Shy FX and Cee Lo Green.
Sam Divine – ‘Defected in the House’ Resident DJ, doing it for the girls! Began her career locally in Bristol, then secured a three-year residency at Club Ushuaia in Ibiza, her success is recognised globally on the House circuit.
And these are just to name a few…
The pals have managed to create a fusion of huge names with local and Frome based DJ’s to establish an epic way to round off the summer, using exclusive twist whilst keeping it local and close to their hearts… and where else?
In the heart of the west country, home to the biggest performing arts event in the world, with the perfect essence of classic festival surroundings. And at between £25.00 – £40.00 per ticket this event is inarguably a bargain.
Ryan and Jack describe their new found project. They said, “This 3-stage mecca of electronic music is the brainchild of two friends who know how to put a party on; our love of festivals, parties and dance music shines through and is reflected in our attention to detail in planning this event.”
Powwow is in support of ‘Dream Big Ghana’ a foundation run by Ryan’s brother-in-law, Dougal Croudace. The charity’s aim is to improve sanitation and education in the villages of Dzita and Agbledomi, in rural Ghana.
The foundation was originally linked to Frome when volunteers held a ‘Toilet Twinning’ social event two years ago which raised £500, which is enough to cover the cost of building a compost toilet, they then build it when they visit Ghana.
One toilet serves up to 20 people and the dream big foundation have built more than 30 so far, providing usable compost for the local farmers enabling them to expand the crops they already grow.
Depending on the success of the Field Trip, Powwow hope to amplify their involvement in the ongoing success of these projects.
Speaking of Dreaming big, Powwow would love to offer an even bigger event over two days, by launching an opening a summer party to kick off next year’s Festival season with even bigger names, while increasing capacity of punters – which currently stands at 3000.
Jack said, “The optimum goal would be to run a full time events company on a national level…”
But right now, the guys are precious about keeping it local.
Powwow are keen to share their story with the local community, especially as Frome is currently flourishing in a revolution of music craft and literature, and has its very own Festival.
