Frome is preparing once again to show its support for the Royal British Legion as this year’s Poppy Appeal gets underway on Thursday 23rd October, running through to Remembrance Sunday on 9th November.
Volunteers will be out in force across the town and surrounding villages, collecting donations in supermarkets, shops, schools and local organisations.
Last year, the people of Frome and District raised an impressive £45,000, a figure that Poppy Appeal organiser Richard Aspray described as “a tribute to the tremendous generosity of our local community.”
Richard added: “We had many kind volunteers, as well as several local organisations, to support us last year. I would like to thank all of our volunteers that took part in last year’s Appeal.”
The money raised through the Poppy Appeal helps provide vital support to serving and ex-serving members of the British Armed Forces, along with their families and dependants facing hardship, injuries or bereavement.
Frome has built a strong reputation for rallying behind good causes, and this year’s organisers are once again calling for volunteers, businesses and organisations to get involved. Anyone wishing to lend a hand with this year’s Appeal can contact Richard directly on 07511 961248.
