THE time is fast approaching for green-fingered Frome residents to start thinking about entering Frome in Bloom’s annual competition.
On behalf of Frome in Bloom, Valerie Norvall says, “The season is rolling on and Frome in Bloom committee are now hard at work planning the Summer Gardens competition. This is the first event in two years and we need to make it special.
“The entry forms are now available at Frome Town Hall, Frome library, the Cheese & Grain office, and from committee members. If there are any difficulties obtaining an entry form, call 01373 465528 or 01373 467781.
“All the details of how to enter your particular category are printed on the form. The closing date for entries is at the end of June. For the many regular entrants, all the usual classes are included, plus at least one new entry.
“We welcome anyone new to the competition. There is something for everybody, from a simple hanging basket, to a large garden. There are schools’ classes, children’s classes, allotments and community gardens to name a few.
“The Plant Sale, which takes place on Saturday 28th May at Selwood academy, organised by Frome Horticultural Society, will have the usual FIB stall, with many plants for sale and free sunflower plants for any child up to the age of 12 who wishes to enter in that class. Entry forms will also be available.
“So consider soon what class you are going to enter in the competition, all free, and come along to the plant sale in May, but come early (9am) as everything sells quickly!”
