THE Climate Film Festival is returning to the town for the third year on Sunday 19th May and organisers say you can expect an even more diverse range of films.
The festival has grown over the last three years from 18 submissions in 2021 to over 550 submissions from 47 countries this year and people can still submit their films via FilmFreeway as the last day of submissions is on 1st April.
Julia Wellard, festival research director said “The range and diversity of films this year has been fantastic, with films from the Ukraine, Iran, New Zealand, Malaysia, UK, USA and India. It is truly humbling that so many filmmakers are supporting the Climate Festival.
“The films celebrate fascinating and positive stories of fighting climate change and connecting with nature. The day starts with a morning of films for children and includes exhibitions and workshops.”
If you can’t wait until May, festival organisers have arranged for a special screening of the brand-new feature film, Blue Carbon, led by DJ Jayda Guy and scored by the Wu Tang Clan, on 21st March at 7pm in Rook Lane as part of the Kindness Festival
Organisers added, “Between March and May, we’ll also be holding evening screenings and workshops on Fridays at the Good Heart. Details to follow on our website. In addition, on 18th May, the day before the International Climate Film Festival, we are celebrating local films and filmmakers at the Masonic Hall.”
The Frome International Climate Film Festival is also now a registered Community Interest Company with a mission to; • Raise climate awareness in our everyday lives through ‘Making it Visible’; • Provide positive pathways to help support change; • Connect, share, support and inspire people to change and to support the local community.
All events are free as organisers say, “We believe there should be no barriers to help green change,” but donations can be made on their website and at the events.
