Frome’s special Light the Night with lanterns project has created a spectacular trail of hundreds of Christmas lanterns around town.
The town council reports, “We may not have been able to have our traditional lantern parade to kick off the Christmas festivities this year but that didn’t stop the community of Frome digging out the scissors, paper and glue and getting stuck in to create some wonderful lanterns that we can see around the town.
“A total of 645 lanterns (so far) have been created from the kits the Light the Night team put together.
“The team worked with schools, groups and the wider community and offered a host of virtual workshops to ensure everyone who wanted to create a lantern could do. Videos were hosted on YouTube and instructions were downloaded, and the end result is a stunning display in front windows all across Frome for everyone to enjoy in the run up to Christmas.”
Cllr Anne Hills, who created her own lantern said, “I am blown away by some of the fabulous lanterns I have seen around the town, from the amazing swan to a Rudolph and a plethora of twinskly stars – it’s such a great effort and I’m pleased the community has still taken part in this much-loved festive tradition.”
It’s not too late to create your own masterpiece, there are kits still available at the Town Hall, why not light up your front window too?
