Frome Ladies Club concluded activities for the year in fine style with an excellent Christmas dinner at The Bell, Buckland Dinham on the 13th December.
The evening wound up what had been a very successful year.
Di Neale had kindly donated two large toiletry sets which were raffled separately and raised in excess of £50 for our charity of the year, MS Society Bath and District Group.
The October monthly meeting took the form of a Silent Auction with the members placing bets on donated items to raise funds for our charity of the year. The club also visited the Willow and Wetland Centre, Stoke St. Gregory, Nr. Taunton which was both enjoyable and informative.
November saw the club at the Bristol Hippodrome for a performance of Jersey Boys and at the end of the month, Christmas shopping in Swindon. The main event of November was the Christmas social when everyone enjoyed a ham and cheese ploughman’s followed by a good selection of desserts and wine. Singer Chris Stone entertained with a wide range of popular songs from the 50s and 60s. Raffle winners were Janet Henretty, Abbie Haines, Ann Davies, Ann Kirkpatrick, Sandra Dean, Jenny Boorer, Betty Web, Leslie Hill and Di Webster. The evening ended with Chairman, Christine Cornaby, wishing members a very happy Christmas and thanking them for their support during the year.
The next meeting will be the Annual General Meeting on 30th January, when it is hoped two more members will join the committee. Anyone wishing to join Frome Ladies Club should ring Christine Cornaby on Frome 300641.
