St John Ambulance is looking for new volunteers to become first aiders in Frome.
The charity’s area manager, Ollie Crandon said, “No-one should die because they needed first aid and didn’t get it. We teach people first aid so they can be the difference between life and death, and you can help us do this.
“As a volunteer with the nation’s leading first aid charity, you will be trained to a high standard to provide first aid treatment to patients at events covered by St John Ambulance in the community.”
Across Somerset, St John Ambulance volunteers support thousands of events each year, ranging from fêtes and village shows, to marathons and sporting events, as well agricultural shows such as the Royal Bath & West Show and the county’s carnivals.
Volunteers also have the opportunity to travel further afield as first aiders for events such as the Virgin Money London Marathon, Beautiful Days Festival and Falmouth Tall Ships.
“No previous training in first aid is required, it will all be provided – we just look for a desire to help people and the readiness to deal with situations that can be distressing,” Ollie added.
The deadline for applications to become a first aider in Somerset is Sunday June 11th, with selection days in Bridgwater on June 17th and Wells on July 2nd. For more information please contact Ollie via email: ollie.crandon@sja.org.uk or phone 07837 095266.
In addition to needing new first aiders in Somerset, St John Ambulance is also for volunteer youth leaders, with vacancies in Frome, Wells, Taunton, Ilton and Bridgwater.
