Frome Lions held their 14th Annual Sporting Dinner at Orchardleigh House Frome on Thursday 17th January.
Lion Mike Geake of the Lions Club of Frome said, “Guest speaker was one of Britain’s best-known football pundits and former Manchester United and Aston Villa manager, Ron Atkinson.
“The 170 guests enjoyed a splendid meal in the palatial surroundings of the orangery at Orchardleigh. The charity chosen for this year’s event was Dorothy House Hospice Care and at the start of the evening, Anne Montague from the hospice informed the guests that the money raised from the evening will be used to fund the Dorothy House children and young people’s service (CYPS), who give such valuable support to those who have lost a loved one far too early in life.
“Frome Lions are extremely grateful to the generosity of our many sponsors and supporters of this event. They include Mr Christopher Vincent for donating the venue, Connor Construction (South West) Ltd for their overall sponsorship of the event, Mr David Millard for compering the evening and Mr Michael Joyce for conducting the charity auction. A special thanks also goes to the 15 business and individuals who donated items for the auction. And last but not least, all of the guests who attended the dinner.
