Applications are now open for grants for community organisations and groups in Frome and the local villages, Frome Community Trust has announced.
A total of about £5,500 is available, raised entirely by the proceeds of the Frome Community Lottery. Grants are typically given for between £200 and £2,000 and are meant for the development of community facilities in the area. Last year, the lottery supported many diverse organisations, from the Jack in the Box toy library to The Pod Youth Club and the Frome Independent market, from Positive Action on Cancer to the Frome Festival.
Application forms, which must be returned by 27th April, are available from the Trust’s website – www.fromecommunitytrust.btck.co.uk or from Sue on 01373 462431.
Chair of the Trust, Sue Worringham said, “All the money we are able to give out comes from the proceeds of the Frome Community Lottery. We are extremely grateful to all the local residents who play the community lottery every week, as 50% of their weekly stake of £1 comes back to Frome to support local groups. They also have a chance to win cash prizes of up to £25,000. Last year, many prizes were won by local people, with three local players winning £1,000 each.
“Players who wish to join the lottery can pick up a leaflet at Frome Library or join through the Trust’s website.
