FROME Community Trust has announced that applications are now open for grants for community organisations and groups in Frome and the local villages.
A total of about £5,000 is available, raised entirely by the proceeds of the Frome Community Lottery. Grants are typically given for between £200 and £2,000 and are meant for the development of community facilities in the local area.
Chair of the trust, Sue Worringham said, “As for most organisations, this has been a very strange year for us. But throughout the year, the lottery has still been raising money for local grants. We are extremely grateful to all our supporters who play the community lottery every week, as 50% of their weekly stake of £1 comes back to Frome to support local groups. They also have a chance to win cash prizes of up to £25,000!” Players who wish to join the lottery can pick up a leaflet at Frome library or the Town Hall or join through the Trust’s website.
“Last year, the community lottery was able to support local organisations with several projects including the box office computer system at the Memorial Theatre, equipment for Fair Frome for the furniture bank and community meals, toilet refurbishment at the Merlin Theatre, publicity for the Window Wonderland and Active and in Touch and a website to help with the organisation of Frome Community Cars. We had hoped to invite organisations to a tea party to celebrate the 20 years since the lottery started in Frome, but now hope to celebrate the 21st birthday in 2021 instead.
“Application forms for grant funding, to be returned by 1st February 2021, are available from the ‘News’ page of the Trust’s website – www.fromecommunitytrust.btck.co.uk or by emailing worringham@btinternet.com
