Frome’s doctors’ surgery has been named Digital Inclusion Champ-ion at the UK’s internet industry awards.
Frome Medical Practice won the Digital Inclusion Champion – Charities and Communities award at the 27th annual Internet Service Providers Association (ISPA) Awards, held in London on 13th November.
The award celebrates organisations making a real difference in tackling digital exclusion, a challenge that affects health, independence and access to essential services. Over the past year, Frome Medical Practice has worked to close the digital gap in healthcare.
Through digital health desks, digital cafés and pop-up sessions in places such as libraries, supermarkets and food banks, the team has helped thousands of people gain the confidence and skills to use online NHS services.
Digital Transformation Lead at Frome Medical Practice, Gareth Hannam, said, “Some highlights of work undertaken include over 3,500 patients supported with digital skills and access to IT, a significant increase in NHS App uptake, well above national and regional averages, over 4,400 patients supported to access their NHS App in the last three years, 80% increase in appointments booked via the NHS App and in partnership with other organisations, provision of free devices and mobile data to those who need them most.
“Winning this award is a testament to the dedication of our team and the strength of our community partnerships. We’re excited to build on this success by expanding our work into the community and the wider population and continuing to make digital healthcare accessible for everyone in Frome. This isn’t just about technology; it’s about independence, confidence and making healthcare accessible for everyone. We remain committed to removing barriers so everyone can confidently access healthcare online.”
