MEMBERS of staff at a Frome opticians spread Christmas cheer last month by sporting festive jumpers and selling home-baked treats in aid of Save the Children.
The team at Specsavers in the Westway Centre invited customers and passers-by to enjoy a slice of cake in exchange for a charitable contribution, while members of staff boosted funds by paying for the privilege of wearing their favourite festive knitwear.
In total, more than £100 was raised for the international children’s charity.
“Christmas Jumper Day was a great opportunity to have some festive fun while raising money for a brilliant charity,” says store manager, Mike Taylor. “At this time of year, it is important to remember that there are children around the world who are facing a real struggle, so we wanted to support the invaluable work that Save the Children does.
“Wearing a Christmas jumper is always fun, but it’s important to remember the serious message behind it all. We’re so grateful to our local community for their generosity and support of Save the Children, and hope that the money we have raised will make a difference for the vulnerable children who need it most.”
