FROME Musical Theatre Company (FMTC) members recently gathered at the Assembly Rooms for a glittering social evening and celebration of another successful year of successful shows.
FMTC produce three shows a year – a traditional family pantomime, a musical in the spring and a youth production in the summer. The evening was celebrating recent shows, Disney’s Little Mermaid, Cinderella and School of Rock.
As well as Star Awards to recognise performances on stage, an honorary award of life membership was presented by FMTC chairman Andrew Tawse to a dearly valued member of the back stage team, Martin Sargent, who has dedicated his time, skills, support and patience to the society over the past 60 years.

- Outstanding Contribution: Debbie Taylor, presented by Debbie Haines of Danceworks
- Best Young Female Performer: Flo Caidan – Little Mermaid, presented by Heather Singer of Penleigh Butchers
- Best Young Male Performer: Dillon Endicott – Little Mermaid, presented by Roger Hatherell of Kingfisher Wealth Management Ltd
- Best Cameo Performance: Mike Perry – Cinderella, presented by Gillian of Whiterow Farm
- Best Actress: Anna Lee – Cinderella, presented by Richard Lines of Frome Memorial Theatre Trust
- Best Actor: Rob Finlay – School of Rock, presented by Mia Brixey of Lilley’s Cider
- President’s Award for Under 21s Singing Performance: Beau Street – Little Mermaid, presented by FMTC president Humphrey Barnes
- Star of the Cast Cinderella – Leah Rice, presented by Andrew Tawse of FMTC
- Star of the Cast School of Rock – Natalie Andrews & Charlie North, presented by Andrew Tawse of FMTC
A ‘Special Recognition Award’ was also presented to the young stars of School of Rock for their incredible performances: Alex Ball, Alfie Crinon, Betty Geraghty, Zachary Green, Loretta Iles, Amelie Moon, Lillian Morris, Charlie North, George Thomas, Mollie Vowles, Florrie Walker, Joseph Williams and Isla Wright.
FMTC were delighted to be joined by representatives from 12 local businesses who generously sponsored the awards evening – Lilley’s Cider (the main sponsor), Me Time, Taylor Brothers Builders Limited, Domesticare, Solstice Legal Services Ltd, Danceworks, Kingfisher Wealth Management Ltd, Whiterow Farm, Salisbury printing, Frome Memorial Theatre Trust, Penleigh Butchers and Garston Vets.
Members enjoyed a three-course meal provided by Simon Dredge catering and a disco provided by Gary Williams.
