Frome Netball Club end season on a high, with the First Team Stars finishing third in their first year in the higher division after winning promotion last year and the second team Diamonds winning all of their matches and gaining promotion to the higher division next season.
The club held its AGM on Thursday last week at the Rugby Club, Frome where the officers for the next season were duly elected. The summer league fixtures were discussed; this league commenced the first Thursday in June and is held at the Frome and District Youth Centre, Vallis Road Frome. Supporters always welcome.
The evening commenced with a BBQ where present and past members enjoyed the food. The club said farewell to Emily who is leaving to travel to India and Australia. We all wish her a very happy tour.
Awards were presented to the following by the chairman June Barnes who celebrated 64 years as chairman and congratulated everyone for their efforts and success this year.
The team member trophies went to Sophie Cox for Stars and Kathy for Diamonds. The Alison Hardie Shield for the Under 21 Most Improved Player went to Kathy Dredge.

Most Consistant Player of the Year – Monica Ordledge and Jo Knight. Barnes Cup Most Improved Senior Member – Tolaura Sheen. Miss Orchard Umpiring Cup – Jane Bullus. Vannessa Leggett Attendance Shield – Monica Ordledge and Jess Read. Sue Oatley Cup, Club Member Award – shared by Andrea McCaul and Helen Maunder.
A special thank you to Andrea McCaul for all of her hard work and dedication to the club. Various awards were handed out to other members for fun. The evening finished with a disco which was much enjoyed.
Selection for next season will take place on Tuesday evenings starting in July. If you would like to play for the club next season please come along. Teams play at Devizes in the Moonraker League which is played on Tuesday or Thursday evenings or on Saturday in the Somerset League home and away.
