First Team: Stars vs Devizes Kites. Tuesday 30th September
Custom ‘Stars’ playlist blared across all cars as we began our pilgrimage to Devizes for the first game of the 25/26 season.
After weeks of dedicated training and friendlies during pre-season, Frome Firsts were filled with nervous, yet excited energy. Ready to implement all our training and showcase an exciting new squad with big aspirations for the season ahead.
The first quarter saw an explosive start with an immediate turn over to goal. The goals kept on coming with some beautiful movement and cohesiveness from GA Jimmy and GS Nat. Defence quickly sussed their opponents out, adjusting their strategy to intercept balls, guided by some phenomenal communication from GK Bron. We ended the first quarter with a 13-goal lead.
As we proceeded through the subsequent quarters, the hard work through our pre-season became apparent. The effortless transition from attacking play to defending play was fast and effective. Defence implemented some beautiful set play, keeping their attackers in-front of them. And the goal difference kept increasing with a score of 48-13 going into the 4th quarter.
Going into the final 15 minutes, mid-court continued to deliver some fruitful passes into the shooting circle, positioning themselves effectively around the D. The whole team put in 100% throughout and the victory puts us in great stead for our next game against Devizes Harriers.
Final score: 62-22

Second Team: Diamonds vs Team Doris. Tuesday 30th September
Diamonds went into this game knowing that as the first game of the season and being a new team it was going to be tough. We had some lovely passages of play, with plenty of turnovers, strong drives in our attacking end, and our shooters rewarding us for this.
It was a great opportunity to see what teething issues we have and the variety of combinations we have to offer, allowing us to really play to our strengths. Despite not coming away with the win, there were a lot of positives, leaving us excited for the season and the potential for this team going forward. Diamonds kept their work rate up, giving it everything until the final whistle, thoroughly enjoying the first game being back on court.
Final score: 34 – 47

Third Team: Frome Hearts vs Westbury Wasps. Tuesday 30th September
With a strong new squad of 10 players, Hearts started off their season with a steady play and at the end of the first quarter we were tied with Wasps with 4-4.
Heading in the second quarter, we found our flow of the game and maintained possession of the ball. From this, we were able to create a good starting lead of 13-9 heading into the second half.
With three fresh players coming on court in the third quarter and our strong defence throughout, we managed to have multiple turn overs and intercepts. From these, the game flowed beautifully, and with great patience around the circle, we were able to widen the score to 23-15.
In the final quarter, the team managed to stay in front and clinch a win of 29-22!
Such a good start for a very exciting season ahead!!
