Frome Stars 41, Chippenham 3, 27
Brilliant squad performance from Stars, who are sponsored by Denis Maps.
With the first goal being scored in the first 4 seconds from Hannah Dredge, we set the motion for stars. With good movement between Georgia Cox and Hannah in the shooting circle and feeds on point from Emma Guy and Sophie Cox, Stars were able to find a steady and well controlled flow.
Defensively, Stars were on fire. Amelia Pratten stuck to her player in WD and tips and interceptions were being made by Sophie Woolley, Alice Millard and Sophie Cox. We ended the first half of the game, 23-10.
Second half saw a switch up, with Molly White coming into feed the shooters; Alice and Hannah whilst Kathy Dredge, Sheri Pleasants and Ellie Gibbs take on Chippenham’s attack. With Hannah on fire with her shooting, mid court bringing the ball through nicely, and many tips and interceptions from Kathy, we were able to keep our lead.
Amelia returned to court last quarter to put in an impressive stint at C, feeding the circle well and picking up any loose balls. Sophie W also came back to GA where she saw early balls into Hannah with some impressive feeds.
Coach Clark was really impressed with everyone’s ability to defend their player and the ball, even when playing an “attacking position”. Georgia and Alice were able to pick off balls whilst in shooting positions which really shows how much effort is put in through court at all times. Player of the Match: Emma Guy whilst Players’ Player and Coaches’ Pick went to Hannah Dredge.
